The HPRA and HSE hosted a joint webinar on September 27 on the topic of medical device shortages.
The webinar provides an overview of a recent change to the Medical Device Regulations which will require manufacturers to inform health institutions of certain interruptions in supply or discontinuations of medical devices before the interruption or discontinuation occurs. This measure is intended to allow health institutions time to plan for a lack of certain device availability and to consider mitigating measures to ensure patient health and safety.
