Cardiac Services was founded in Belfast in 1968. It is at the forefront of supplying and supporting diagnostic and measurement equipment in Ireland and the UK with specific focus on ICU, Coronary Care, theatre, and maternity. The business comprises a number of Divisions with Pre-hospital specialising in the supply of AEDs, training devices and primary care / GP supplies. The Hospital Division is mainly focused on Patient Monitoring, Resuscitation and Cardiology, Surgical Scopes, Clinical Information Systems and Fetal monitoring with the business concentrated in the acute areas of Hospitals i.e. intensive care, operating departments, coronary care units, emergency departments, cardiology investigations, resuscitation, neonatal intensive care, and labour wards.
 
Purpose of Role:
Cardiac Services is seeking to expand the team who operate in our Endoscopy workshop. This team works with our customers to ensure the correct operation of the various types of endoscopes supplied by Cardiac Services. The technicians inspect, repair, disassemble, reassemble, troubleshoot, and test those scopes returned to the workshop for evaluation.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will use a variety of small hand tools and test equipment, while following established manufacturer repair guidelines. He will be responsible for maintaining accurate service records in line with our quality system. The candidate may also be assigned to support the business needs by assisting staff in other areas of our business.
 
Training:
Following a period of internal training within the Cardiac Services workshop, where the candidate will be introduced to minor level repairs, it will be necessary for the candidate to undergo training at Olympus UK, Southend-on-Sea. Here the candidate will undergo further training to gain the manufacturer’s official and recognized qualification for minor level repairs. Upon satisfactory completion of this qualification the candidate will then progress to training on intermediate followed by major level repairs. Progression to each level is dependent upon meeting the manufacturer required level of competency.
 
Requirements:-
• 4 GCSE’s including Math and English
• Level 4/5 qualification or equivalent in Engineering/operations & maintenance. In the absence of a formal qualification previous practical experience will be considered.
• Whilst not essential, previous experience of repair and maintenance of flexible
  endoscopes would be a distinct advantage.
• 6 months to 1 year of electro-mechanical experience and/or demonstrable repair ability is
  required.
• Sufficient manual dexterity with small hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers
• Ability to work with microscopes, test equipment and hand soldering irons.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to understand and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards and related
  information
• Ability to concentrate for extended period of times. Attention to detail is vital.
• Self-motivated and a demonstrable ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work as part of a team as required.
• Possesses basic computer skills
• Ability to understand, implement and maintain the quality standards set by both Cardiac
  Services and the equipment manufacturer.
