GS1 is a neutral, not-for-profit, member-owned, standards development organisation. We are best known for providing a system of unique numbers, data carriers (e.g. barcodes and radio frequency identification tags) and information sharing standards, relevant to products, relationships, assets, locations, services and processes.
We help healthcare and other sectors to make their processes and solutions safer through the use of standardised identification, barcoding and tracking of products, assets, people, locations and more.
GS1 Ireland is actively working the HSE, Hospitals, Suppliers and other stakeholders to embed the standards in their systems and processes enabling seamless track and trace from manufacturer to the patient bedside.
GS1 standards enable the globally unique identification of every person, every product, every place, every asset and more. With this information we can be sure who did what to whom, when, where, with what and why.
This delivers enhanced patient safety, reduced clinical variation and improved operational efficiency.
